Zillar Barta Desk : Indian and US Army soldiers carried out a joint counterterrorism training exercise in Auli, Uttarakhand, as part of Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026, focusing on building-clearance and room-intervention operations. The drill was designed to strengthen coordination and interoperability between the two forces during close-quarter counterterrorism missions.
During the demonstration, assault teams conducted simulated operations to clear buildings and respond to threats in confined spaces. Indian Army snipers, trained canines, drones and a robotic dog were also involved, highlighting the use of technology and specialised capabilities in modern counterterrorism operations.
The 22nd edition of Yudh Abhyas is being conducted simultaneously at Auli in Uttarakhand and the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. Around 600 personnel from each country are participating in the exercise. The training focuses on joint operations in mountainous and semi-mountainous terrain, infantry operations, Integrated Battle Groups, drones and autonomous systems.
The exercise also provides an opportunity for soldiers from both countries to exchange operational experience and explore emerging technologies relevant to modern warfare. The ongoing drills reflect the continued military-to-military cooperation between India and the United States and their efforts to improve interoperability during complex operations.
