Zillar Barta Desk : Zimbabwe are set to showcase one of their key venues for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup when they take on Australia in a three-match ODI series in Harare. The series begins on September 15, with the remaining matches scheduled for September 18 and 20, all at the Harare Sports Club.
The series carries added significance for both teams as preparations intensify for the 2027 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Australia, the reigning world champions, are using the tour to gain valuable experience of conditions in the region ahead of their title defence.
For Zimbabwe, the matches provide an important opportunity to test themselves against one of the world's leading ODI sides on home soil. Harare Sports Club is among Zimbabwe's confirmed World Cup venues and will offer Australia an early look at the conditions they could encounter during next year's tournament.
Zimbabwe have also recalled experienced campaigners Brendan Taylor and Graeme Cremer for the series, while Sikandar Raza will captain the side in the absence of injured Richard Ngarava. Taylor's return adds another layer of experience to Zimbabwe's World Cup preparations.
Australia, meanwhile, are keen to use the three ODIs to assess combinations and give players valuable 50-over exposure before the World Cup. The Harare series is therefore more than a bilateral contest—it is an important early rehearsal for the global tournament in 2027.
