Zillar Barta Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the two-day international conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The conference is being organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on September 19 and 20, bringing together judicial, scientific and administrative experts to discuss emerging environmental and climate challenges.
The conference is being attended by judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, district court judges, environmental experts, senior government officials and representatives of various environmental and judicial institutions. Eminent judges and judicial representatives from 17 countries are also participating in the event, giving the conference an international platform for exchanging experiences and approaches.
The discussions are focused on issues including climate change and resilience, environmental governance, biodiversity, sustainable energy and the circular economy. Participants are also examining gaps in policy formulation, implementation and enforcement and discussing ways to strengthen institutional cooperation.
The NGT said the conference aims to facilitate the exchange of judicial approaches, scientific knowledge and environmental governance practices across jurisdictions. It is also intended to encourage collaboration among governments, courts, experts and regulatory institutions in addressing present and future environmental challenges.
The event includes technical sessions dealing with climate justice and inclusion, the future of environmental law and governance, global environmental challenges and cooperation, and forest protection and restoration. These discussions are intended to contribute to a broader roadmap for sustainable environmental management.
The conference brings together multiple stakeholders at a time when climate change and environmental protection require coordination between scientific institutions, policymakers, courts and regulatory authorities. The two-day programme will continue through September 20 in New Delhi.
