Zillar Barta Desk : Japan’s famed aerobatic team Blue Impulse added a spectacular touch to the opening of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, creating a giant heart formation in the sky over Nagoya on Saturday.
Six Blue Impulse aircraft took off from Komaki Air Base and arrived over Nagoya’s Hisaya-odori Park at around 9:15 a.m. local time. During an approximately 20-minute demonstration flight, the aircraft released smoke trails to create formations including a cherry blossom and a large heart against the clear autumn sky.
Large crowds gathered in the park to watch the performance, with many spectators capturing the aerial display on their smartphones. The demonstration was organized to commemorate the 20th Asian Games and the 5th Asian Para Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
The Asian Games officially opened in Nagoya on September 19, bringing together around 11,000 athletes from 45 delegations for Asia’s major multi-sport event. The opening ceremony at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium carries the theme “Harmonic Heart Beat,” symbolizing connections among athletes from across Asia.
The Blue Impulse display provided a striking visual welcome to athletes and spectators as Nagoya began hosting the continental sporting extravaganza.
