Zillar Barta Desk,Srinagar: A sudden spell of strong winds over the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar triggered a rescue operation after tourists became stranded during shikara rides amid difficult weather conditions.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Quick Response Team swung into action after the sudden change in weather made conditions on the lake challenging. Rescue personnel reached the affected shikara and safely brought the tourists to shore.
The incident highlights the risks faced by tourists and boat operators when sudden gusty winds sweep across Dal Lake. Weather conditions in Srinagar can change rapidly, making navigation difficult for shikaras and other boats.
Authorities have repeatedly advised tourists and boat operators to exercise caution and avoid entering the lake during adverse weather conditions. Previous incidents have also seen rescue teams respond swiftly when strong winds caused boats to lose balance or become stranded.
