Zillar Barta Desk,Guwahati: Members of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and students paid heartfelt tribute to legendary musician and Bharat Ratna awardee Bhupen Hazarika on his 100th birth anniversary in Guwahati.
The commemorative programme brought together students and members of the student organisation to remember Hazarika’s immense contribution to Assamese music, culture and Indian art. Participants paid floral tributes and recalled the iconic musician’s enduring legacy and his powerful body of work.
Known for his soulful music and socially conscious compositions, Bhupen Hazarika remains one of Assam’s most celebrated cultural icons. His songs transcended linguistic and regional boundaries, earning him a special place in India’s cultural history.
The 100th birth anniversary celebrations across Assam are being seen as an opportunity to honour the musician’s extraordinary contribution and inspire younger generations to preserve the state’s rich cultural heritage.
