Zillar Barta Desk : Russian President Vladimir Putin held more than three hours of talks with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow on Saturday, with the Kremlin describing the discussions as “substantive, constructive and extremely frank.” The meeting focused primarily on efforts to find a political and diplomatic solution to the war in Ukraine.
Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said the talks took place in a trusting atmosphere and included both formal discussions and an informal dinner. Putin reaffirmed Russia’s willingness to continue working with the United States on a diplomatic settlement, while stressing that Moscow believes the “root causes” of the conflict must be addressed.
The US envoys reportedly presented several ideas for resolving the conflict and agreed to take Putin’s views into account during their upcoming discussions in Kyiv. However, no concrete breakthrough or agreement was announced following the Moscow meeting.
The talks are part of US President Donald Trump’s renewed diplomatic effort to revive negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Witkoff and Kushner are expected to travel to Kyiv for further discussions with Ukrainian officials, as Washington seeks to determine possible next steps toward ending the conflict.
