Panaji, Goa: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attended the concluding ceremony of Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026, highlighting the importance of proper nutrition, public health awareness and collective efforts to build a healthier society.
Rashtriya Poshan Maah is an important nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness about nutritional well-being, particularly among children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers. The campaign seeks to address malnutrition and encourage healthy dietary habits through community participation and coordinated efforts by government departments and grassroots organisations.
During the concluding ceremony, the importance of strengthening nutritional awareness at the community level remained a key focus. Initiatives under the Poshan Abhiyaan programme aim to promote balanced diets, improve maternal and child health, encourage early childhood care and development, and raise awareness about the consequences of malnutrition.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's participation highlighted the importance of state-level leadership in supporting national nutrition initiatives. Such programmes play a significant role in connecting government welfare measures with local communities and encouraging families to adopt healthier lifestyles.
Women and children remain among the primary beneficiaries of nutrition-focused government initiatives. Ensuring access to nutritious food, promoting breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding, improving awareness about anaemia, and monitoring children's growth are essential components of efforts to improve nutritional outcomes.
Community-level awareness programmes also encourage families to understand the importance of dietary diversity, hygiene, sanitation and preventive healthcare. Anganwadi centres and frontline health workers play a crucial role in delivering these messages and supporting beneficiaries.
Rashtriya Poshan Maah serves as a platform for bringing together government agencies, healthcare workers, community organisations and citizens to address nutritional challenges. The initiative emphasises that tackling malnutrition requires sustained awareness, effective implementation of welfare programmes and active public participation.
The concluding ceremony in Goa marked an occasion to reflect on the importance of continued action towards improving nutrition and strengthening public health. Sustained efforts in these areas can contribute to healthier families, better child development and long-term social progress.
