Zillar Barta Desk,Dubai: A week packed with exciting international cricket has brought several significant changes to the latest ICC Men's Player Rankings, with performances in the T20I and ODI formats earning major rewards for players from India, Afghanistan, the West Indies, Bangladesh and the United States.
The biggest movement came in the T20I batting rankings, where India captain Shreyas Iyer made a spectacular jump after producing his maiden T20I century against the West Indies in Lucknow. Iyer climbed 18 places to reach seventh position, marking the first time he has entered the top 10 in the format. His unbeaten 102 from 43 deliveries, featuring 10 fours and six sixes, played a major role in India's dominant victory in the series opener.
Iyer's rise means India now has four players inside the top 10 of the T20I batting rankings. Ishan Kishan continues to occupy the No. 1 position, followed by Abhishek Sharma at No. 2. Iyer has moved into seventh, while Tilak Varma remains inside the top 10 at No. 10. The strong presence of Indian batters reflects the team's continued strength in the shortest format.
There was also a significant change at the top of the T20I bowling rankings. Afghanistan's star spinner Rashid Khan reclaimed the No. 1 position, replacing Pakistan's Abrar Ahmed. Rashid's return to the summit highlights his continued impact in T20 cricket and follows a busy period of international action.
India's Axar Patel was another major beneficiary of the latest update. The left-arm all-rounder climbed 16 places to seventh in the T20I bowling rankings. Bangladesh also saw substantial movement, with Nasum Ahmed rising three places to eighth and Mahedi Hasan making a 10-place jump to ninth.
The West Indies also gained ground in the latest rankings. Hard-hitting batter Sherfane Rutherford moved up 10 places to 37th in the T20I batting rankings after his half-century against India. His innings provided an important contribution for the West Indies during the recent series.
The ODI rankings witnessed notable movement as well, particularly among Indian and West Indian players. India's Shubman Gill retained the top position among ODI batters and extended his lead after producing a record-breaking unbeaten 223 in the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati. Gill now has 841 rating points.
West Indies captain Shai Hope also climbed the ODI batting rankings after his impressive 162 in the series finale. He moved two places to sixth. India's experienced batter KL Rahul made an even bigger jump, gaining seven places to move into a share of 10th position.
West Indies youngster Amir Jangoo was another significant mover. He rose from outside the top 100 to 55th in the ODI batting rankings following his recent performances. Meanwhile, teammate Jayden Seales climbed 12 places to reach 10th among ODI bowlers, achieving a new career-best ranking after taking four wickets during the series against India.
The latest rankings also brought recognition for players outside the major cricketing nations. USA veteran Milind Kumar reached a career-best 10th position among ODI all-rounders after his impressive performances in the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 competition, including a century against the UAE.
The latest update demonstrates how quickly the ICC rankings can change following a strong run of performances. Individual centuries, match-winning spells and consistent contributions can have a substantial impact on a player's rating, making every international series an opportunity to climb the global rankings.
For India, the latest update has been particularly encouraging across both white-ball formats. Gill continues to lead the ODI batting charts, while Iyer's spectacular rise has strengthened India's representation among the world's leading T20I batters. Axar's movement in the T20I bowling rankings adds another positive development for the reigning T20 World Cup champions.
The rankings also underline the growing competitiveness of international cricket. Players from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, the West Indies and the USA have all made notable gains, while established stars continue to battle for the top positions.
With more bilateral series, international tournaments and qualification matches ahead, further changes are expected in the coming weeks. The latest ICC update once again highlights the direct connection between performances on the field and movement in the global player rankings.
