Zillar Barta Desk: England completed a commanding eight-wicket victory over Pakistan at Edgbaston on Saturday, sealing a 3-0 series whitewash in the final Test of the series. Joe Root and Jordan Cox produced composed unbeaten half-centuries to steer the hosts through a tense start on Day 4.

Chasing a modest target of 130 runs, England suffered an early setback when Ben Duckett was dismissed for a first-ball duck by Mohammad Abbas. Emilio Gay soon followed, leaving England struggling at 2-2 and briefly giving Pakistan hope of an extraordinary turnaround.

However, Root once again demonstrated his experience under pressure. The former England captain remained unbeaten on 62, while Jordan Cox provided excellent support with an unbeaten 59. The pair added a match-winning partnership that took England safely past the target in just 25 overs.

Root was fortunate on his way to another important Test half-century. He survived after being bowled off a no-ball and later escaped when an edge fell between Pakistan's slip fielders. Nevertheless, he remained composed and controlled the chase alongside Cox.

Pakistan had earlier shown impressive resistance on Day 3, particularly through debutant Razaullah, who smashed a spectacular 81 off 63 balls, including nine sixes. His aggressive innings helped Pakistan set England a target of 130 after the visitors had been reduced to serious trouble earlier in the match.

The result completed England's first home Test series whitewash over Pakistan in the series, with England winning all three matches. Ollie Robinson emerged as one of the standout performers of the series, while Cox's consistent contributions have strengthened his case for a regular place in England's Test setup.

For Pakistan, the defeat brought a difficult tour to an end. Despite flashes of promise from young players such as Razaullah, the visitors were unable to match England's consistency across the three Tests.

England will now turn their attention to the next phase of their international schedule, while Root's successful return to the captaincy provides the team with renewed confidence after a turbulent period.
