Zillar Barta Desk : Pakistan’s interim head coach Mike Hesson has identified the bowling attack as a key area for improvement ahead of the third and final Test against England in Birmingham. After heavy defeats in the opening two matches, Hesson wants Pakistan to develop a more varied and balanced attack capable of challenging England in different conditions.
Hesson, who stepped into the red-ball coaching role after Sarfaraz Ahmed was replaced, said his emphasis has been on creating greater variety in the bowling unit. Experienced right-arm seamer Mohammad Abbas has been one of Pakistan’s brighter performers in the series, taking 10 wickets, and Hesson wants the other bowlers to complement his strengths.
Pakistan have undergone a major reshuffle following their defeats at Old Trafford and Lord’s, with seven players released from the squad. The changes have attracted criticism, but Hesson has focused on rebuilding the team around a clearer identity and a bowling attack that can offer different options.
The third Test is scheduled to begin in Birmingham on September 9, with Pakistan looking to avoid a series whitewash and restore confidence after a difficult tour.
