Zillar Barta Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the centenary celebrations of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, in New Delhi, marking 100 years of the prestigious institution. Established in 1926 by industrialist and philanthropist Sir Shri Ram, SRCC has played a significant role in shaping generations of students, professionals, entrepreneurs, policymakers and nation-builders.
Addressing students, alumni and faculty, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to the college's founder and highlighted SRCC's contribution to India's education and intellectual landscape. He described the centenary as a historic milestone and praised the institution for creating a strong legacy across diverse fields.
The Prime Minister also reflected on his earlier visit to SRCC in 2013, noting the changes India has undergone since then. He spoke about India's economic growth and said the country's 7.8% growth amid global uncertainty reflects the strength and resilience of the Indian economy.
The centenary celebrations coincided with Teachers' Day, adding significance to an event dedicated to education, learning and the contribution of teachers. During his visit, PM Modi also travelled to the college by Delhi Metro and interacted with students and fellow passengers.
The event marked Prime Minister Modi's return to SRCC after 13 years and brought together generations of the institution's students, alumni and educators to celebrate a century of academic excellence.
