Zillar Barta Desk,Assam : Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has highlighted the preparedness and capabilities of the state’s police commandos, describing them as highly trained personnel ready to confront challenges head-on.
Sharing a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister wrote that the commandos of the Assam Police have undergone specialised training and are prepared to take on difficult security situations.
The Assam Police has been strengthening its specialised commando capabilities as part of efforts to modernise policing and enhance the state’s security preparedness. In January 2024, 2,551 trained commandos were inducted into the force after rigorous training under the guidance of the Indian Army and Assam Police.
More recently, Assam inaugurated its 6th Police Commando Battalion in Tinsukia in February 2026, with the state government stressing the importance of specialised forces in addressing emerging security challenges.
The Chief Minister’s message underscores the government’s focus on building a better-trained and more capable police force equipped to respond to modern security challenges.
